That’s right, it’s another boring bread blog. Since we got “snowed in” last Saturday, it was the perfect opportunity to knock another recipe off the list. Even though this one was just a Plain Jane white sandwich bread, it still brought me that much closer to finishing this challenge. It was an easy bread to make, with no starter the night before. I started making it at around 1pm and was done by 6pm. The ingredients were nothing special: flour, salt, melted butter, one egg, and sugar. I let the dough rise a couple of times and then baked it in two 9-inch loaf pans. They came out looking pretty nice!
The bread was good in that it was what you’d expect of a homemade sandwich bread. I’ll be happy to get back to some of the more exotic breads sometime in the future (Potato, Cheddar, & Chive Torpedos!). As of now, I have 11 breads left, seven of which are sourdough breads, yet I have still not been able to cultivate a seed culture. I’m going to try again in the coming days, and in the meantime will try to bang out the Wheat Bread and Pannetone (fruit cake), which I had skipped last year because all of the other bloggers said it stunk. I guess this is as good a time as any to try it out!
